Meal Deals Philosophy

Sometimes it might be tempting to buy more because it cost's less per ounce, but you may end up spending more in the long run. They normally preach to buy in bulk while on sale, but when it comes to food, if you buy more than you need, it will sit in your fridge for weeks or pantry for years and eventually end up in the garbage. I used to buy based on price per ounce and browse at the store to come up with meals and I was spending $100-$150 per week on groceries.  I would end up buying more than I needed and making a couple of trips to the store for forgotten items.  Now, I buy only what I need for the week based on meals I plan from the ads and now only spend $35-$55 on food groceries.  So, a few shopping tips; plan ahead and buy only what you need for that weeks meals, ALWAYS follow your grocery list, and NEVER go shopping hungry (this will make following your grocery list much more difficult).

Also, I usually already have the basics when I post my shopping list, so check the recipes I post to see if you are running low on anything.  We buy our milk from Costco which is Kirkland brand and is produced without artificial growth hormones and is cheaper than the milk at the grocery store.

Remember, be creative!  Cooking should be fun and relaxing, not a chore, so enjoy it!
